PARENT PARTICIPATION FOR LATINX MONTH

This year for LatinX Month, we would love to hear from and celebrate our families! Starting next week, students will be able to record a short video of any family member of their choosing, asking them specific questions about their heritage. Students who complete and submit the video will be entered into a raffle! All videos should be emailed to Ms. Battle at lenette.battle@yesprep.org and Ms. Sanchez at angelica.sanchez@yesprep.org. The script for what questions students should ask is listed below. The deadline to submit videos is Friday, October 15th. These videos will be posted on our various social media pages. We look forward to hearing/seeing our families!:

Logistics: From October 4th- October 15th, students can submit an interview video of a family member of their choice to Ms. Battle at lenette.battle@yesprep.org and Ms. Sanchez at angelica.sanchez@yesprep.org.  Questions to ask for the interview are listed below:
Script:

  • Share your name
  • Country you're from
  • A popular dish from where they're from
  • Something you are proud of about where you're from
  • Your hobbies or interests
  • What do you like about being a part of the Revolutionary Family
  • Any other interesting facts or information they want to share

COMMON ASSESSMENTS

Common Assessments will occur on October 11th and 12th.  The testing will happen during Math, Science, Social Studies, ELA, and Spanish (if applicable) classes,  and in small groups for students who qualify.  Common Assessments test all the skills and knowledge taught so far in the year and count for 5% of the student’s semester grade.  Students who score higher on Common Assessments than other assessments in the gradebook will have the lower grades replaced with the higher grades from the Common Assessment.  Please ensure your students are well-rested and bring their charged computers to school on these days.  If they are absent, we will hold makeup testing days on October 13th and 14th.  Please reach out to Megan Gibbs, testing coordinator with questions or concerns.

<IMPORTANT> BACK TO SCHOOL FORMS

If you have not already,  you must complete your Back-to-School form for your students in order to complete re-enrollment.

All returning students to YES Prep will need to complete this form. Back-to-school forms are available through your Skyward Family Access account.
